Full job description
CHOICE IN HACKNEY (CHOICE) has a part-time vacancy (18-hours per week) within its new Advice and Support service. The ideal candidate will have experience of providing a one-to-one service in Advocacy, Information or Advice preferably to disabled people.
The role is to support our disabled service users with a range of topics in relation to Housing and Community Care Law (including adaptations / care package disputes etc) whilst working collaboratively with partner organisation, Disability Law Service (DLS).
As the Community Care & Housing Advisor, you will produce some casework and develop practical approaches for ensuring disabled service users get the best support from the most appropriate advisor (by making regular referrals into the DLS legal clinic).
There are also great opportunities for personal development, as the successful candidate will:
- Undertake the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 or 4 in Information, Advice and Guidance;
- Shadow and receive coaching and supervision from DLS’ Trainee Solicitors; plus
- Receive regular support sessions with CHOICE IN HACKNEY’s Project Coordinator.
