Cook – Roman’s Community (Keychange Charity)
Location: Romans Community, Keychange
Hours: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 7:00am–2:00pm
Pay: £12.45 per hour
Contract: Part-time (with opportunity for additional hours to cover leave/sickness)

Roman’s Community, part of Keychange Charity, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our friendly care home team. This is a rewarding opportunity to prepare wholesome, home-cooked meals that bring joy and nourishment to our elderly residents.

You will be the main cook on weekends, with the opportunity to cover additional shifts during the week when our regular cook is on leave or unwell.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook and serve a nutritious lunch each day
  • Carry out advance preparation for the evening meal (supper)
  • Complete daily cleaning tasks and maintain hygiene standards in line with health and safety regulations
  • Supervise and support the Kitchen Assistant during shifts
  • Assist with developing seasonal and varied menus that cater to residents' preferences and dietary needs (e.g. diabetic, vegetarian, soft food)
  • Maintain kitchen stock and cleanliness, following cleaning schedules and food safety practices
  • Work collaboratively with the Home Manager and care team to ensure a positive dining experience for all residents

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working in a kitchen or catering environment (care home, school, hospitality)
  • Strong understanding of food hygiene and safety standards
  • Ability to prepare quality, nutritious meals in a timely manner
  • Reliable, organised, and able to work independently
  • Compassionate and resident-focused approach to catering
