Deputy Headteacher
Location: Car Dyke School, Bourne, Lincolnshire
Salary: To be agreed (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Car Dyke School is seeking a dedicated, experienced and inspiring Deputy Headteacher to
join our senior leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a growing
specialist SEND school and make a real difference to the lives of children and young people.
Working closely with the Headteacher, you will support the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the school, helping to embed the school’s vision, values and high
expectations. You will play a key role in school improvement, staff leadership and ensuring
excellent outcomes for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
The role includes a 50% timetabled teaching commitment, allowing you to model
outstanding practice and remain closely connected to classroom learning. You will also
deputise for the Headteacher when required and lead on agreed whole-school
responsibilities such as curriculum, assessment, behaviour or pastoral care.
Key Responsibilities:
● Support the Headteacher in the strategic leadership and operational management of
the school
● Promote a positive, inclusive school culture with high standards of behaviour and
attendance
● Ensure high-quality teaching, curriculum delivery and assessment across the school
● Lead, support and performance-manage staff, promoting wellbeing and professional
development
● Champion safeguarding, pupil wellbeing and inclusive SEND practice
● Ensure the school meets statutory requirements and Independent School Standards
About You:
● Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree
● Leadership and management experience within a school
● Strong teaching background, with experience of SEND/ALN
● Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
● Resilient, organised and committed to safeguarding and equality
About Car Dyke School:
Car Dyke School is a newly registered specialist school in Lincolnshire for pupils aged 8–18
with a range of SEND. All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). We
offer excellent facilities, extensive grounds and a supportive, child-centred learning
environment.
