Despatch Operative

Purpose of the Role

The Despatch Operative is responsible for picking and despatching orders, ensuring accuracy and that quality standards set by the business are met.

Key Responsibilities

Despatch & Order Handling

• Plan and carry out the picking and packing of stock for orders being despatched or collected.
• Ensure all orders are correct and meet company quality standards.
• Support loading and unloading of vehicles as required.
• Liaise with other team members to ensure the correct resources are available to complete required tasks efficiently.

Operational Support

• Assist with organising and coordinating transportation activities, including making deliveries when required.
• Keep stock within the despatch area watered, organised, and in good condition.
• Ensure despatch equipment is maintained and stored safely.
• Work with other team members to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the business.
• Assist in other areas of the business when required.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure company quality standards are adhered to at all times.
• Understand and follow Health & Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory procedures.
• Report progress, issues, and any operational concerns to the Nursery Manager.

Skills and Experience Required

• Previous experience in a despatch, warehouse, nursery, or logistics role preferred.
• Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions accurately.
• Good attention to detail and pride in quality of work.
• Comfortable with physical tasks and working outdoors.
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Forklift licence preferred (training can be provided if required).
• Reliable, punctual, and flexible approach to work.

Salary & Package

Job Type: Permanent

Working Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm)

Leave Entitlement: 23 days annual leave plus Public Holidays

Overtime: Some overtime may be required
