Electrician - Private domestic
0800 Rewire
PAYE: £20.20 – £24.00 per hour
CIS Equivalent: £24.50 – £29.00 per hour

0800 Rewire are looking for an experienced domestic electrician to join our team carrying out rewires and electrical work in occupied and empty properties.

We’re looking for someone reliable, organised, and able to maintain a high standard of work while working alongside a Team Leader on domestic projects.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in private domestic electrical work
  • Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points
  • Good organisation and high standards of workmanship
  • Ability to work well within a team and communicate properly on site

Essential Domestic Experience:

Applicants must be confident and experienced in:

  • Full and partial rewires
  • EV charger installations
  • Consumer unit replacements/upgrades
  • EICRs and remedial works
  • Fault finding and diagnostics

The Role

You’ll be working alongside a Team Leader carrying out domestic rewires, as well as working independently carrying out general domestic electrical work, while following company processes and maintaining good organisation on site.

Typical Working Week

The role will mainly involve working alongside a Team Leader on domestic rewires, alongside carrying out general domestic electrical work independently.

This can include:

  • Rewires in occupied and empty properties
  • Consumer unit upgrades
  • EICRs and remedial works
  • Fault finding
  • Heating controls
  • EV charger installations
  • Smaller domestic works and call-backs where required

The role offers a good mix of teamwork on larger projects and independent working throughout the week.

You’ll be expected to maintain a high standard of work, stay organised, follow company processes, and communicate properly with both customers and the team throughout each job.

Pay & Progression

Starting Rate
£20.20 PAYE (£24.50 CIS equivalent)

Progression Rate

£22.50 PAYE (£27.00 CIS equivalent)

Pay progression is reviewed based on overall performance, organisation, quality, reliability, and consistency on site.

Available after an initial 3-month period, subject to consistently:

  • Completing work efficiently within allocated labour budgets
  • Consistently meeting weekly labour targets
  • Maintaining a high standard of work
  • Following company processes
  • Completing certification on site
  • Confident wiring and fault finding on a range of domestic heating systems, including S Plan systems, wireless thermostats, and multi-zone underfloor heating manifolds
  • Staying organised with materials and van stock
  • Communicating properly with the Team Leader and office
  • Carrying out work with care and professionalism within customer properties

Senior Electrician Rate

£24.00 PAYE (£29.00 CIS equivalent)

Pay progression is reviewed based on overall performance, organisation, quality, reliability, consistency, and ability to work efficiently within the team.

Progression to this pay grade requires a City & Guilds 2391 or EAL Level 3 Inspection & Testing qualification. Electricians without this qualification are still encouraged to apply and may become eligible for progression once the qualification has been obtained independently.

To progress to this rate, electricians will be expected to consistently meet the standards outlined within the £22.50 progression rate, in addition to the following:

  • Take responsibility for overseeing and supporting jobs alongside the Team Leader
  • Be proactive in identifying issues before they become delays or customer problems
  • Demonstrate strong forward planning across materials, preparation, and daily workload
  • Maintain excellent communication throughout jobs with customers, the Team Leader, and office
  • Produce consistently high-quality work with minimal snagging or return visits
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and professional working environment at all times
  • Be dependable with minimal day-to-day supervision or follow-up required

Working Hours

  • Monday: 7:30am start (meet at the office before travelling to site)
  • Tuesday – Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
  • Friday: 8:00am – 4:00pm

Any travel over 30 minutes to and from site is paid at your standard hourly rate.

Holiday Package (PAYE)

  • 28 days holiday including bank holidays
  • Additional 2 days after 1 year of employment (30 total)
  • Additional 3 days after 3 year of employment (33 total)
  • Holidays paid at 8 hours per day
  • Christmas shutdown period included:

- Last working day: 18th December

- Return to work: 4th January

  • Unused holidays paid back at year-end
