Procurement Manager (Full time)
With energy procurement being an essential part of their skillset, this person will be responsible for owning and delivering procurement projects that drive business growth.
They will manage and optimise new and existing contracts across a variety of areas and work closely with customers and suppliers in support of our ambitious expansion plans.
We’re looking for someone with a hands-on approach to procurement, strong organisational skills and experience of procurement management and energy management.
The role will offer an exciting mix of opportunities and development and will help shape the future of the business.
Key areas of role responsibility:
Driving Commercial Growth & Renewable Energy Initiatives
Developing and executing credible growth opportunities for the business, managing commercial energy contracts, and optimising procurement strategies are critical to this role. A strong understanding of the company’s objectives and EBITDA impact is essential.
Commercial & Renewable Energy Growth Project Management
Lead and deliver strategic growth projects, including but not limited to private wire initiatives, CO₂ capture projects, plastics recycling innovations, and the development of future AD plant builds.
Stay informed on industry advancements and emerging technologies, building strong business cases that align with EBITDA objectives.
Take ownership of ad hoc technical innovation projects, including contract negotiations, as the business evolves and expands.
Renewable Energy Management
Oversee the group’s utility contracts, including renewable gas, power, and green certificates, while managing relationships with brokers.
Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure the most cost-effective and suitable agreements for the business.
Manage and maintain land lease and power agreements with landlords to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
Procurement & Cost Optimisation
Collaborate with stakeholders to reduce costs and standardize procurement practices across the group.
Lead the full procurement process—scoping, sourcing, negotiating, and supplier management—focusing on cost savings and efficiency.
Work closely with the CFO to align procurement strategies with the company’s overhead management goals.
Partner with business users of stock, assets, and contracts to monitor supplier performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Individual competency & essential requirements
Strong energy market experience with history of effective decision making based on sound economics understanding
Proven track record of driving cost savings within a procurement role using strong data analysis tools and measures
Strong understanding of biological, commercial and engineering technologies
Excellent analytical, decision making and problem-solving abilities.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
High pace and confident proactive attitude essential
Positive, dynamic and professional; Ability to create buy in from stakeholders; Ability to write clear and concise English to a senior audience; Ability to exert personal influence
Duties outside of normal working hours; Travel - Driving licence for visits to all group sites in UK will be required on frequent basis
Working days, Monday to Friday / Hours: 40 per week
Annual Salary £45k to £50k, dependant on experience
