Role Overview: As an Engineering Apprentice at Aqueduct Marina, you will work alongside our experienced engineering team, gaining practical experience in various disciplines including engineering, boat moves, electrics, plumbing, welding, woodwork, and painting. This apprenticeship offers a comprehensive introduction to the technical aspects of marina operations, equipping you with the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in marine engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering Support: Assist in the maintenance and repair of boats, ensuring all work is performed to a high standard.
- Boat Moves: Participate in the safe movement and handling of boats within the marina, including launching and retrieval operations.
- Electrics: Learn and assist with electrical installations, repairs, and troubleshooting on boats.
- Plumbing: Support plumbing tasks, including the installation and repair of water systems on boats.
- Welding: Assist with welding tasks, learning proper techniques and safety procedures.
- Woodwork: Participate in woodwork projects, including repairs, custom fittings, and modifications to boat interiors and exteriors.
- Painting: Assist in the preparation and painting of boat surfaces, ensuring a high-quality finish.
- Health and Safety: Follow all health and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Continuous Learning: Engage in training and development opportunities to enhance your technical skills and knowledge of marina operations.
Qualifications:
- Education: Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Science, and English.
- Skills:
- Basic understanding of engineering principles.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills.
- Attributes:
- Eagerness to learn and develop new skills.
- Strong work ethic and proactive attitude.
