Job Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support our outsourced finance team in delivering high quality financial management services to our clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial processes, bookkeeping, and accounting principles. You will work closely with our team, and our clients’ management teams, to ensure accurate financial records, assist with reporting, and contribute to the overall efficiency of our outsourced finance operations.
Responsibilities
While working with our clients, you may be required to complete some of the following tasks:
- Process invoices, payments, and expenses, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client policies.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate financial records, including accounts payable and receivable.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and supplier statements.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Support payroll processing by collating and verifying relevant data.
- Prepare VAT returns and liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients.
- Communicate with clients regarding financial queries, ensuring a high level of service.
- Work collaboratively with our team to improve processes and efficiency.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.
Key skills and expertise
- Previous experience in a finance or accounting role (preferably in an outsourced or practice environment).
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping, financial processes, and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Xero is desirable, as this is our core software
- Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong Excel skills
- Ability to manage multiple clients and prioritise workload effectively.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly.
- Experience with VAT returns and payroll processing is an advantage.
- AAT qualification (or working towards it) is desirable but not essential.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £27,300.00 per year
Expected hours: 20 per week
