Jigsaw Fitness designs and manufactures innovative fitness equipment from our Lancashire HQ. Our customers include some of the UK’s leading gym equipment brands and health club chains.

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to undertake all aspects of financial management, including Management Accounts preparation and presentation, budget and forecast preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures.

The Financial Controller will work closely with representatives across all functions of the business. As a small business undergoing significant growth, this role will present many new and varied responsibilities.

Responsibilities (includes but not limited to):

  • Preparation of relevant, timely, and accurate monthly management accounts and reports for operational management, to enable a balanced and objective assessment of the company’s strategy and objectives
  • Develop the capability to review and report on profitability by customer, project, product, and services delivered
  • Responsibility for all journals and final GL balances including month-end balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts
  • Review and approval of quarterly VAT returns
  • Development and presentation of accurate monthly cashflow statements for the business
  • Review and update, in line with good practice, the business’s financial management systems and processes
  • Implement a change management culture by challenging & replacing established processes and procedures where necessary - to include review, documentation, and development of the company’s internal controls
  • Proactive support of commercial processes to achieve company financial objectives and growth targets
  • Assist the executive team in monitoring and delivering financial strategy and annual budget
  • Develop, and motivate the Team to deliver the finance function for the business
  • Liaise with different departments to ensure the Finance Department is properly supporting the needs of the operating business
  • Liaise with the company’s accountants to ensure statutory accounts are prepared within set timescales and that statutory, compliance, and tax reporting is completed accurately and on time

Essential Skills and Requirements

  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA)
  • Strong technical background and previous experience of working in similar role in industry
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience in managing staff
  • Experience in using Xero
  • Strong IT skills using all Microsoft packages, in particular Excel
  • Ability to learn new processes and software quickly
