CFS Systems are looking for our next Apprentice Fire & Security Technicians to join our growing team.
With first, second and third year apprentices already developing within the business, this is a fantastic opportunity to start a long-term career in a fast-moving and highly technical industry.
This apprenticeship combines hands-on experience on live projects with college learning, working towards a Level 3 Fire & Security Systems Technician qualification (36 months). You will be fully supported by a mentor and experienced engineers while building the skills and confidence needed to succeed.
The Apprenticeship Programme
This is a full-time, permanent apprenticeship offering:
- On-the-job practical training
- Day/Week block release at college
- Level 3 Fire & Security Systems qualification
- Structured mentoring and development
- Clear progression routes within CFS Systems
This apprenticeship provides the foundation to progress into roles such as:
- Installation Engineer
- Commissioning Engineer
- Service & Maintenance Engineer
The Role
Based from our St Helens office, you will work alongside experienced engineers across the North West (with occasional travel further afield) installing, commissioning and maintaining a range of life safety and security systems including:
- Fire alarm systems
- Intruder alarms
- CCTV systems
- Access control & intercoms
- Emergency lighting
- Refuge & call systems
- Portable fire extinguishers
You will gain experience in:
- Installation and interconnection of equipment
- Programming and commissioning
- Testing and fault finding
- Maintenance and modifications
- Responding to service call-outs
- Delivering professional customer service
You will work across residential, commercial and public sector environments including schools, hospitals and construction sites, so professionalism, presentation and respect for customers is essential.
Regular toolbox talks, engineer meetings and internal/industry training will support your development throughout.

Essential Requirements
- Right to work in the UK
- GCSE Maths & English (Grade 4 or above or equivalent)
- Ability to travel to St Helens office / Warrington college daily
