About Us
Expert Fire Solutions is a well-established fire protection company specialising in both Passive Fire (fire stopping, fire doors, general FM) and Active Fire services (fire alarms, extinguishers, emergency lighting). Based in Durham, our team is growing and we’re seeking a highly motivated Technician to join our Active Fire division.
The Role
As a Fire Extinguisher Technician, you’ll be responsible for the installation, service, and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers and associated fire safety equipment across a range of commercial premises. You’ll work to British Standards and company procedures, ensuring full compliance and delivering an exceptional standard of customer service.
- Inspect, service, and maintain portable extinguishers and related fire safety equipment in accordance with British Standards
- Install and replace extinguishers, signage, brackets, and ancillary fittings to meet current standards.
- Carry out remedial works and ensure accurate service records and certification.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicle stock to company standards.
- Provide clear and professional communication with clients on-site.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
What We’re Looking For
We’re searching for a practical, reliable engineer who takes pride in quality work and customer satisfaction.
- Experience in the service and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers.
- Recognised fire extinguisher servicing qualification (e.g., BAFE) this is a minimum requirement and we will not accept applications from candidates who have not has formal training.
- Mechanical aptitude with strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- I.T literate with the skills to easily adapt to new software and processes.
- Excellent communication and customer service ability.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Desirable:
- Experience with additional systems such as hose reels, dry risers etc.
- Familiarity with BS standards relevant to fire safety maintenance and inspection.
