About the role:
Carry out plant maintenance on fuel farm and hydrant system equipment. Duties will involve preventative maintenance, equipment defect repairs; working with contractors; observance and adherence of all safety and quality control requirements; general good housekeeping. This role may also include fuel farm operational tasks such as receipt of fuel into storage and product quality testing. Stansted Fuel Farm is a Lower Tier COMAH site (Control of Major Accident Hazards).
This role is working Monday - Friday 37.5 hours per week.
Key areas of Responsibility for Fuel Farm Technical Supervisor
Operations
- Overseeing, maintaining and carrying out the day-to-day operational tasks safely, effectively and efficiently in relation to the whole hydrant system.
- The Plant Technical Supervisor may be working alone at times with responsibility for the fuel farm & hydrant system equipment and the safety and security of the Fuel Farm Facilities and staff on site.
- This role is weekdays but may occasionally require out of hours work (weekend/nights) dependent upon works being carried out or emergency scenarios, this is to reduce our operational impact to the airport with fuel supply.
- Assist with work within the fuel farm for basic operational tasks (as required).
- Performing all tasks in accordance with the site Operating Standards, Safety Management System (SMS) & Joint Inspection Group (JIG)
The basic operating tasks are, but not limited to, the following.
- Preventative Maintenance
- Plant defect repairs
- Assist responding to reported faults with hydrant system on the airfield.
- Storage and handling of Jet A1 – (when required) to ensure necessary stock levels are maintained for all Partners & ensure accurate stock level reporting.
- Ensure the product accepted into & through the Stansted system meets all necessary industry standards.
- Compile accurate partner daily reports. Deal with enquiries from all parties & Government agencies in an efficient and timely manner.
- To be the lead PTW Signatory, responsible for overseeing the completion & maintenance of the company PTW scheme. Audit of PTW & compliance to specified conditions
HSSE
- Strictly adhere to the North Air Rules for Operators and Safety Management System (SMS).
- Report all unsafe acts and conditions and safety incidents to line manager at all times and encourage others to do so as well.
- Conduct operational tasks as per how he has been trained.
- Acknowledge that Working Safely is a condition of Employment.
- Technical assistance with frontline investigation of incidents, accidents, spillages.
Fixed and Mobile Plant Maintenance
The Plant Technical Supervisor will oversee or carry out such tasks that as are necessary in the day to day running of the facility. These include but are not limited to:
- Equipment, plant maintenance.
- Defects and repairs.
- Visual pipeline inspections.
- Safety structure inspections.
- Meter proving calibrations.
- Equipment calibrations
- Electrical work dependant upon qualifications.
- Working with contractors. be point of contact for communications with Airport Engineering project teams.
Product Quality
The Plant Technical Supervisor may be required to perform tasks critical to the Quality Assurance System and as such he/she shall be fully trained in such tasks and nominated as an approved product quality inspector for North Air. Such Critical Tasks include, but may not be limited to, the following:
- Checking documentation on incoming consignments to ensure information is correct and that it corresponds to documentation sent from the Pipeline Operator and/or fuel supplier and that it conforms to the latest version of DEF STAN 091-91 and AFQRJOS ("Aviation Fuel Quality Requirements for Jointly Operated Systems")
- Visual inspection and control checks on incoming exports
- Receipt into storage
- Release of product
- Sampling and testing aviation product within the fuel farm
- Sampling and testing aviation product within the airside hydrant system
- Maintaining records of stock/quality/equipment checks as appropriate
Skills and Experience
- Experienced working with mechanical plant equipment.
- Mechanically minded, problem solving and solutions.
- Safety minded, with an understanding of Health & Safety at work
- Good physical fitness, able to work at heights and ability to lift heavy equipment as per manual handling regulations.
- Pro-active with good communication skills
- Ability to work well within a small team.
- Willingness to learn from experience of other
Desirable
- Plant electrical knowledge.
- Working with pressurised pipelines and plant.
- Knowledge and previous experience with Jet A1 fuel.
