The Position

This position is perfect for an experienced developer looking for a new environment, seeking new responsibilities and opportunities for their professional development. The position primarily involves working from home, with some office time (you must live in or near Manchester). You would be working at a company run by developers, providing a supportive and positive developer environment.

  • Design, build and maintain efficient, reusable and reliable code
  • Take ownership of projects and code quality
  • Test website functionality against the technical specification
  • Pass code reviews with little input from Senior Developers
  • Bug fixing existing systems and websites (Wordpress and Laravel)
  • Developing Wordpress websites and Laravel systems from scratch
  • A balanced combination of front-end and back-end development

Time Management

  • Work towards agreed deadlines and manage own time
  • Work on multiple projects at any one time and balance priorities
  • Able to work independently with little input from Senior Developers


  • Update project managers with progress regularly
  • Communicate issues clearly, with consideration for potential solutions
  • Provide feedback on technical questions from project managers
  • Able to write technical specifications with input from Senior Developers
  • Participate in team-wide workshops and idea sessions

Skills & Competencies

We are looking for an experienced full stack web developer to bring new ideas and ambition to do great work. We are a very small team, and so there is a lot of scope for professional development, learning and growth. We do not require any specific level of education or experience, but a relevant degree and/or agency experience is preferable. Our projects are primarily bespoke Laravel systems and highly customised Wordpress websites.


  • Excellent knowledge of PHP including OOP, MVC and Composer
  • Excellent knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Excellent attention to detail when replicating design mockups in HTML/CSS
  • Excellent knowledge of MySQL and database design
  • Good knowledge of Git
  • Good knowledge of cross-browser quirks e.g. IE and mobile devices
  • Good knowledge of Javascript and jQuery
  • Experience with Wordpress theme development
  • Experience with any PHP framework (Laravel, Symfony, Zend, CakePHP)

Highly desirable

  • Experience with Wordpress plugin development
  • Experience with Laravel development
  • Knowledge of command line tools and SSH via the command line
  • Knowledge of Apache/Nginx configuration
  • Experience with task-runners such as Webpack
  • Experience with Bitbucket/JIRA
  • Experience integrating with REST APIs
  • Experience with Bedrock/Sage by Roots


  • Experience with; Vagrant, Automated Testing, Linux server maintenance, front-end framework (Vue.js, Angular, React), AWS, Google Cloud Platform.
