Fundraising Officer (Grants, Community & Events)

Fairthorne Manor, Curdridge

£28,000 to £32,000 per annum

Up to 37.5 hours per week - Will consider Full time or Part time

Job Purpose:

We are seeking to grow our fundraised income through multiple income streams and this role is for a generalist working across 3 areas with estimated time distribution of:

1) Grants, Trusts and Foundations – 60%

2) Events – 20%

3) Community – 20%

This proportion will flex as opportunities for growth are identified. This role will be part of a dedicated fundraising team of 3 based at the heart of our operations: Fairthorne Manor. The postholder will drive grant applications, develop and launch campaigns linked to our events (nb a separate team is responsible for organising and delivering events: this role focusses on the fundraising opportunities only), and support and empower community fundraising at YMCA’s branches. The postholder will, as part of a team, facilitate high quality stewardship of supporters and help embed fundraising thinking into all aspects of our charity.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • At all times work within the YMCA Way in accordance with our values
  • Research, write and submit grant applications to various sources utilising digital tools to enhance capacity, with support from Fundraising Manager
  • Work with staff to identify and deliver a fundraising overlay for YMCA’s events: particularly Fairthorne Manor which holds multiple ticketed events each year
  • Establish community fundraising systems and materials for local YMCA branches and support teams to engage their local community in fundraising
  • Help internal stakeholders understand how to identify and support potential new supporters
  • Be a point of call for branch staff for information and support for community fundraising
  • Work with the fundraising manager to establish integrated information systems
  • Maintain records and regularly report on activity and progress including drafting reports to funders, with support from a finance Business Partner
  • Ensure adherence to brand, ethics and fundraising priorities
  • Participate in key fundraising and engagement activities, including events
  • Follow all YMCA policies and procedures, and act in the interests of your own safety and the safety of others at all times
  • Anything else reasonably requested by the management of the charity.

Person Specification & Key Competencies

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Success at raising funds through more than one source, this could be via grant applications, events and/or community fundraising
  • A very active user of social media
  • Outstanding literacy skills and attention to detail
  • Experience of developing fundraising campaigns
  • Experience/knowledge of marketing
  • Excellent IT skills, including Office 365
  • Relevant professional qualification and/or professional experience
  • Recent professional development related to trends in fundraising
