Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated General Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in delivering high-quality food services. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a keen interest in developing their skills within a busy kitchen environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in catering, cooking, and food safety standards, contributing to the smooth operation of our establishment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with meal preparation and food presentation under the supervision of senior kitchen staff
  • Support the cleaning and organisation of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas to maintain hygiene standards
  • Help with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping, peeling, and portioning ingredients
  • Ensure all food safety protocols are adhered to at all times, including proper storage and handling of ingredients
  • Serve meals to customers or staff in a courteous and efficient manner
  • Restock supplies and ingredients as required to ensure continuous kitchen operations
  • Assist with washing dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchenware promptly after use
  • Support the team during busy periods by performing additional duties as needed

Requirements

  • Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices is advantageous
  • Basic culinary skills such as meal preparation and food handling are preferred
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Good organisational skills with attention to cleanliness and detail
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take on varied responsibilities within the kitchen setting
  • Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends or evenings if necessary
