Company Overview:

Join one of the UK's leading premium marine engineering companies based at Portland Port. We are seeking a General Operative to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a hands-on, motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working on a variety of tasks that support the success of our projects and operations.

Position Summary:

As a General Operative, you will assist with the day-to-day operations across our facilities, ensuring the smooth running of activities that support our marine engineering projects. This role involves a range of responsibilities, from maintaining workspaces to assisting skilled tradespeople, providing an excellent opportunity for professional growth and development within the marine industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Support:

Assist in the preparation and maintenance of work areas, including keeping spaces clean and organized.
Handle materials and equipment required for ongoing projects.
Safely move and store goods and components as needed

Assistance to Teams:

Provide support to skilled tradespeople, including welders, engineers, and fabricators.
Carry out general tasks such as lifting, carrying, and assembling equipment.

Maintenance Duties:

Conduct basic maintenance tasks on tools, equipment, and facilities.
Report any issues or damage to equipment or workspaces promptly.

Health and Safety:

Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
Participate in toolbox talks and risk assessments as required.

Other Duties:

Perform general labour tasks to support the needs of the business.
Flexibly adapt to new tasks and responsibilities as they arise.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

Previous experience in a general operative or similar role is beneficial but not essential.
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
Physically fit and capable of handling manual labour tasks.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations.
Forklift license or other relevant certifications are a plus but not required.
