Intro:

This is a unique opportunity to join a fast growing, global, SaaS business, working across three exciting brands forming the Work Tech Group. We are looking for a recent graduate who is looking for a career in Agile product ownership to join our experienced product team as our business expands.

The ShopWorks offers bespoke Workforce Management software to businesses in the Retail, Leisure and Hospitality sectors and is one of the leaders in WFM software. ShopWorks is home to many renowned UK retail, leisure and hospitality brands such as Starbucks, Betfred, Paperchase, Mecca, Sofology and many more.

fastP.A.Y.E is a flexible on demand pay application that partners with major UK brands across multiple sectors to deliver financial wellbeing to employees and improved retention and morale to employers. We have developed specialist technology that we have built and maintained on our own proprietary technology stack that fully integrates into the ShopWorks Workforce Management platform.

SolvedBy.Ai is a new brand developing AI products which integrate with ShopWorks and delivers further ROI and improves the lives of working people.

Working out of our Edinburgh office which has a great team culture, the successful candidate will gain experience by owning a product line, running a development team, working directly with internal and external stakeholders, and helping to deliver a range of projects and products across all our brands.

What we are looking for:

  • The capability to build strong relationships with a range of different stakeholders across the business.
  • Someone who is willing to learn not just product ownership but also a range of different software development methodologies and decision-making approaches.
  • The ability to be able to be calm under pressure and able to prioritise tasks to meet objectives at a local and global level.
  • Excellent communication skills and someone who can articulate often complex issues to development teams and find suitable solutions to customer requests.

Responsibilities:

After undertaking an initial induction period, the successful candidate will:

  • Be the product owner and responsible for a small Agile development team.
  • Be present and lead on team stand ups.
  • Manage the JIRA backlog and sprint board for the team.
  • Triage, update and manage Jira tickets from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Carry out acceptance testing confirmation in a manner befitting the ticket in question.
  • Contribute to the prioritisation of work with other Product team members and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage sprint capacity, improve sprint velocity, and ensure sprint goals are set and met.
  • Write sprint release/review notes and distribute to relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct demonstrations of functionality where required to relevant stakeholders.
  • Write up functionality documentation in confluence as and when required and appropriate.
  • Run sprint retrospectives for their sprint team, looking at and identifying ways in which sprints can be improved to meet delivery timelines.

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to interact with clients in a professional and friendly manner in order to develop and maintain effective long-standing working relationships
  • A recent university graduate with a 2.1 or 1st class degree in a relevant subject.
  • A basic understanding of AGILE or WATERFALL software development principles.
  • Effective operational proficiency with the English Language (Level C1 or better of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
  • Confidence to work with your own initiative. Demonstrate positive energy and strong drive to succeed.
  • Willing to travel to our central London office 4 to 5 times a year for meetings.
  • This is an office-based position with flexible working and work from home available.
