Job Purpose
To ensure that public areas in the Council’s ownership are: - in good order, support wildlife and managed for the good of all the community in an open and transparent way.
To carry out small general maintenance tasks on buildings and assets and working with the team to appoint and oversee contractors for larger maintenance jobs (as required). To provide a caretaking service for the Parish Council's assets, which includes opening and closing facilities, cleaning, health and safety/compliance inspections.
Grounds & Maintenance Responsibilities
- Grass & Hedge Cutting
- General Gardening – Maintenance of flower beds, planters, and plant trees, shrubs, and bulbs as per HPC Estates & Landscape workplan.
- Equipment & Machinery Use – Following all health & safety protocols. Supplied PPE must be worn at all times.
- Additional Duties – Carry out tasks as required by the Parish Council and its team.
Site Inspections & Health & Safety Compliance Responsibilities
- Conduct daily inspections of all Parish Council assets and land. Report faults and arrange repairs.
- Ensure health & safety compliance for PAT testing, legionella, lift checks, defibrillators, and other required inspections in line with IOSH and Parish Council policies.
- Collect litter and refuse daily to maintain cleanliness.
Skills and Qualifications (Essentials)
- Full UK driving licence to drive Hamble Parish Council vehicles
- Maintenance and DIY skills – such as electrical, plumbing and carpentry
- Have good written and numeracy skills to maintain health and safety and worksheet records to a high standard
- IT skills including emails, texts, online reporting and use of a smart phone
Skills and Qualifications (Desirable)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office365 suite
- Outdoor landscaping/horticultural knowledge or experience
- Health & Safety qualification
- Relevant trade qualification or experience in carpentry, as an electrician or plumbing
Training will be provided for relevant tools and software, as required.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £12.63-£13.73 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 37 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
