Hairdressing Apprentice - Aura Hair

We would like to share this by offering an opportunity to train with us as an apprentice who is looking for a career as a hairstylist.

Your working week will be varied but typical roles and responsibilities will include:

• Shampooing, conditioning and treating hair and scalp
• Front of house customer service
• Refreshments
• General Salon Cleanliness
• Cutting hair using a range of techniques to create a variety of looks
• Styling and finishing hairstyles
• Colouring and lightning

You may also complete

• Perming
• Hair relaxing treatments and techniques
• Extensions

Skills Required:

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage in conversation
• Customer service focused, with excellent people skills and manners
• Ability to listen and follow instructions
• Work collectively as a team as well as using your own initiative
• Good time keeping

Personal Qualities:

• You will have a smart and well-presented appearance at work
• You will be friendly, articulate and positive, with an upbeat attitude
• You will have a keen interest in learning and developing your skills.

Qualifications:

• GCSE Maths and English at 4/C or functional equivalent or ability to work towards

Future Prospects:

• Assuming you have displayed the work ethos, values and enthusiasm expected, you may be offered the opportunity of becoming a permanent member of staff (subject to the successful completion of the apprenticeship programme and the availability of a suitable position).
• The Level 2 Hairdressing Apprenticeship will also provide you with the foundations required to progress to advanced qualifications such as the Level 3 Hairdressing Apprenticeship.

Things to consider:

• Must be able to commute on a daily basis to employer as well as to Totton College
• The role is very physical and involves standing most of the day, you must be able to cope with the physical demands of the role.

Job Types:
Full-time 30 hours/week

Apprenticeship Information:

• Level 2 Hair Professional Apprenticeship Standard
• Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths (if required)

Much of the training will be undertaken "on the job", supported by regular visits from a qualified assessor. There will also be a requirement for you to attend workshops on a regular basis.

NB. This is an apprenticeship position within Aura Hair. All applications are being processed via Totton College.
