Age UK Lindsey is a local charity for older people operating throughout Lindsey and North Lincolnshire.
Are you a caring and compassionate person? Would you like to help make a difference to people’s lives? If the answer is yes we are recruiting a Handy Person for our expanding Team.
The ideal candidate will be based home based with flexibility to work from various office and community locations around the East Lindsey area.
Position: Handy Person
Working hours: 15 hours flexible per week initially with the possibility of increased hours subject to demand.
Reporting to: Community Projects Manager
Purpose of the job
The Handyperson service provides small jobs in the homes of older people across the area, with the aim of helping older people live as independently as possible.
This is one of Age UK Lindsey’s high quality, paid-for services. The types of jobs involved are outlined in the service specification, and this is not exhaustive.
Main responsibilities, tasks and duties
To provide a high-quality and cost-effective Handyperson service to older people across the area.
To support the Warm Homes Team and the Community Projects Manager to develop, plan, promote and deliver the Handyperson service delivery plans.
To order and obtain any materials where necessary to enable light home maintenance such as hanging curtain rails, putting up shelves, changing light bulbs etc to be completed. (Mains electrical and gas fitting are excluded from this role).
To ensure that any debris is cleaned from the work area on completion
To support the Warm Homes Team in delivering the HEC programme and Winter Warmth support where needed.
To ensure you have up-to-date knowledge of services available to older people in the area, and to identify when older people need other relevant services. To report this to the Thrive Team so that appropriate referrals can be made.
To assess, quote and complete a range of tasks in a timely way and to an agreed standard.
To collect payments using a variety of methods when required, in accordance with Age UK Lindsey’s Financial Control Procedures, keeping cash, invoices and receipts safe until passed to the Finance Department.
To work in a flexible way, ensuring that appointments are met and reporting back any schedule changes to the Thrive Team and line manager as appropriate.
To complete appropriate paperwork and/or digital recording of work ensuring that all job sheets and other records are in accordance with the policies and guidelines of Age UK Lindsey.
To maintain accurate service user information on Salesforce ensuring confidentiality.
To support the organisation to fulfil its responsibilities under Health and Safety. You may be asked to take on roles such as First Aider, Health and Safety representative for which appropriate training will be given.
To work with volunteers who support the service. Appropriate training will be given.
To work within all the guidelines, policies and procedures as set out by Age UK Lindsey.
To attend Induction, Training and any Staff Meetings as and when required, either remotely or in person.
To carry out any other duties as may be requested which are consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the post.
To work within the Quality and Core Services Standards framework as directed by the Line Manager.
To ensure that all monitoring data is accurately captured and shared with the wider Age UK Lindsey team as applicable, including by maintaining case records using a bespoke CRM system (Salesforce).
To coordinate referrals into and through the project, making sure that residents get the support they need to benefit from the Handyperson work
Job Requirements: Ability to drive a small van will be beneficial.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From £11.44 per hour
