Head of Finance

Fairthorne Manor, Curdridge

Working hours: 4 or 5 days per week (1 day per week remote working if required)

Salary: £55,000 (FTE) per annum

Job Purpose:

This is a charity-wide senior role involving oversight of YMCA’s finances and financial information. Reporting into the CEO, the role is responsible for the delivery of clear management information, analysis and reporting that explain the trading performance of the YMCA.

It will be instrumental in enabling the Leadership team to deliver the budgeted trading performance in terms of surplus and cash targets. The role has the following core areas of focus:

  • Support the Directors/Leadership team to understand the financial performance of their areas and identify actions needed to achieve the financial targets
  • Supported by 2 Finance Business Partners, provide commercial and business partnering support to drive good decision making and appropriate use of cash
  • Ensure the statutory and regulated accounts are delivered on time and with clean audit opinions
  • Responsible for ensuring the finance team delivers all the transactional elements of the business including Payroll, Expenses, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Lead the finance team, develop, and support individuals as required

Experience and attributes we are looking for:

  • Qualified Accountant – CIMA, ACCA or ACA
  • Good level of IT proficiency
  • Audit experience
  • A dedication to inclusion
  • Some travel to other locations required within Hampshire to support the leadership team
  • A genuine enthusiasm for the work of the charity
  • Ability to communicate well and engage positively with a wide range of people both finance and non-finance and clearly present financial information and explain the commercial impact
  • Ability to influence and impact
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage a highly varied workload
  • Experience of leading and engaging a team
  • A creative and flexible approach to work
