Why this role exists
Plumfield has grown, not just in size, but in ambition. We have a talented, committed team and loyal patients. We believe the next step is to focus even more on our people.
This role ensures:

- Our team feel supported, challenged and developed
- Standards, culture and communication are active and embedded, not left to chance
The Head of People will keep this at the core of Plumfield, every day.
The role
This is a brand-new position at Plumfield, designed for someone who wants to lead culture, experience and people within the practice.
You’ll be present, approachable and visible — ensuring that patient experience and team leadership are working in harmony. This role requires someone who can balance warmth with clarity, and support with accountability.
This is not a desk-based or policy-only role. It’s hands-on leadership, grounded in real understanding of how the practice runs.
What makes this role different
- This role comes with fluidity and trust, a role you help shape
- You’ll bring ideas, challenge thinking and improve how we work
- You’ll get encouragement and support from our:
- Chief of Business Strategy
- Clinical Lead
- Clinical Supervisor
- You’ll add to a strong leadership team, not expected to carry everything alone
What you’ll be doing
- Taking ownership of people, culture and standards across the practice
- Supporting exceptional patient experience while confidently leading the team
- Setting the tone: addressing issues early, clearly and fairly
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding and retention
- Helping shape training, development and progression across roles
- Learning the practice from the ground up by spending time in:
- Reception
- Decontamination
- Nursing (if already qualified as a dental nurse)
- Expanding responsibility as understanding and trust builds
Who this role is for
This role would suit someone:
- Confident leading people and having honest, respectful conversations
- Who understands great patient care starts with a supported team
- Calm, fair and consistent, even in challenging moments
- Not afraid to steer the ship from the front
- Enjoys autonomy and values collaboration
Dental experience is beneficial but not essential. If you’re already a dental nurse, this is an advantage, while leadership ability, emotional intelligence and sound judgement are key.
