Full job description

Carousel Learning has transformed how teachers use retrieval practice. Now, we're revolutionising how they improve their teaching practice.

Building on the success of this year’s pilot Carousel Academy programme, we are developing an innovative online learning platform that provides a full suite of resources to support professional learning and drive meaningful improvements in classroom practice.

The content we provide will use evidence from educational and cognitive science research, practical teaching guides and concrete examples of teaching filmed in typical classrooms. We know that teacher development is hard, but our record in tackling difficult educational problems is clear, and we know that we can help teachers across the world grow their teaching skills quickly and meaningfully.

We are now looking for a Head of Professional Development to join the team and take ownership over the way we formulate and implement our plans.

The role
Reporting to the Director of Education, the Head of Professional Development will play a crucial role in the development of our online learning platform. This is a varied and impactful position, ideal for someone with a background in classroom teaching and professional development who is ready to bring their experience to the edtech sector. Though we want to start as soon as possible, the start date is flexible and we’re happy to accommodate the successful candidate’s professional commitments. We're also open to candidates who would like to be part-time (minimum of 3 days per week).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Platform Management. Collaborate with the Director of Education and the wider Carousel team to design, structure, and curate engaging and robust online learning content.
  • Sector Research. Through meetings with prospective customers and academic research into professional development, develop a strong understanding of what drives effective professional learning.
  • Product Advocacy and Sales. Lead sales conversations as an advocate for the product, effectively demonstrating its value to prospective customers.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A background in teaching (5+ years, preferably within the English secondary education system), ideally with a strong understanding of classroom craft and professional development.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • An analytical mind that understands how schools implement change at scale.
  • Attention to detail, particularly in content creation.
  • An enthusiastic and tenacious approach to handling sales conversations with schools and MATs.
  • A warm and inclusive team-player who is comfortable with a variety of stakeholders, including customers and internal team members.
  • Someone who is good at managing their own time and priorities.

What We Offer:

  • Flexible working hours tailored to your lifestyle and other commitments - though there are a few scheduled meetings that you’ll need to be able to make (often on a Friday).
  • Competitive salary of £45-£55k depending on experience, plus matching 10% pension contribution.
  • The opportunity to make a tangible impact on the future of teacher development.
  • A supportive, remote-first working environment.
  • 25 days' annual leave + bank holidays.

How to Apply:
If you’re ready to bring your education expertise to an innovative edtech company, we’d love to hear from you. Please use the APPLY NOW button on this page to submit your CV and respond to the questions to outline your experience and interest in the role.
