At Altilium, we're pioneering the development of the UK’s battery recycling industry – paving the way to full battery circularity. As a business at the cutting edge of green technology innovation, this is an opportunity to apply your expertise to set the safety standards that will accelerate our mission to be the recycler of choice for the UK’s automotive industry.

The Role

We are looking for a resilient Health & Safety Specialist who thrives on innovation and can develop ISO-standard solutions tailored to us. This role isn't about bringing pre-made processes and applying them to Altilium - it's about development and application of new, effective ways to keep things practical, fostering a culture of responsibility, continuous improvement and sustainability across our organisation.

As part of the wider SHEQ team, you’ll bring a solutions mindset to the role, simplifying processes and helping us work at pace while ensuring we stay compliant and able to scale up our H&S practices at speed.

What You'll Do:

Develop and Implement Health and Safety Management Solutions and Systems: Tailor ISO standard safety solutions and systems to meet our unique operational requirements.

Streamline Processes: Cut through bureaucracy to create effective, practical and easy-to-understand safety practices.

Challenge the Status Quo: Bring new perspectives and innovative approaches to how safety is managed across the business, finding smarter, more efficient ways to ensure everyone’s well-being.

Ensure Compliance, Reporting and Document: Maintain exceptional safety standards, comprehensive records and regulatory compliance.

Training and Communication: Develop and deliver training to educate employees on safety protocols and best practices, communicate updates and promote continuous improvement and accountability.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Strong knowledge and practical application of relevant regulations and standards (e.g. ISO 45001, HASAWA 1974), with proven ability to implement and maintain compliance.
  • Experience working within a commercial environment is essential, with a deep understanding of how safety practices align with business operations and objectives.
  • Resilience and adaptability in managing challenges and driving safety initiatives in dynamic environments.
  • A deep understanding of safe working practices.
  • A proactive attitude with a focus on continuous improvement and a "safety first" mindset
  • Strong interdisciplinary communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to translate complex safety concepts into clear, actionable steps.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
