Job Title: Investment Manager (BEF) - South Yorkshire

Grade: 4B - Up to £42k + £2k Car Allowance depending on experience.

Working Pattern: Full time ( 9 day fortnight) or Part Time (hours negotiable)

Job Purpose:

Managing and supporting SME clients through the life cycle of the loan process, from identifying opportunities from introducers and referrals, through to supporting clients to maintain their financial commitment. This role requires you to assess their suitability, undertake due diligence and consider client eligibility for lending while adhering to FCA conduct rules and treating customers fairly/consumer duty.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Operational:

  • Identifying candidates for loans, explaining fully and clearly, in advance, the terms on which lending will be made and assess their suitability and eligibility for lending. Undertake appropriate financial and anti-fraud due diligence before putting together suitable and comprehensive proposals for the credit panel to consider.
  • Represent BEF’s best interests throughout the loan process
  • Able to meet your targets around the drawn-down loans, whilst helping to meet the agreed organisations KPI’s around yield and defaults
  • Finding clients from and networking with a range of introducers as well as local stakeholders in Regional Growth Hubs and Local Enterprise Partnerships
  • Liaising with partners, associated organisations, community groups and stakeholders to tailor the service in response to customer needs
  • Attending and on occasion, presenting at regular events and offsite meetings and where appropriate, providing support to the start-up loans team.
  • Play an active part in the Sales and Investment team contributing to process improvement and helping develop and encourage other team members. Suggest and provide examples of case studies to Marketing and regularly contribute with compliant social media posts as directed by Marketing.
  • Ensure the collection and where necessary, documentation confirming the impact recorded for a client intervention. This is required to fulfil the demands of stakeholders and to meet the targets set by BEF against the UNSDG’s, CITR and other areas of impact.
  • To follow the procedures and processes laid down by the organisation.
  • Filing reports and other documentation in line with the requirements of the organisation
  • Collecting evidence and providing the correct forms to ensure BEF complies with the contractual requirements of its fund providers
  • To provide appropriate cover for holidays and absences.
  • To undertake any other duties as may be reasonably requested by your manager appropriate to the grade and responsibilities of this post.

  • Compliance:
  • This role is certified by BEF under the FCA SMCR and you will be required to engage with and meet the assessment standards set on an annual basis to be approved by BEF for certification. Approval is mandatory for the continuation in role.
  • You will abide by the FCA Senior Manager & Certification Regime Conduct Rules and meet the Fit & Proper assessment criteria which includes, but not limited to, providing credit references and DBS checks upon request.
  • You will undertake all annual compliance training in a timely manner.
  • You will need to adhere to the Standard Operating Policies for the organisation which set the standards and behaviours required from all staff for adherence to the legal and regulatory requirements of a Financial Services Organisation.
  • To comply with the contractual requirements of stakeholders and funders.
  • To assist the wider team as and when required.
  • To update your manager (Director of Investments) as applicable with any workload issues or concerns.
  • To maintain successful working relationships with external stakeholders.
  • To collaborate effectively with support functions such as Compliance, HR and Admin.
  • To ensure that personal knowledge and skills are regularly updated to ensure effectiveness in meeting work objectives.
  • To keep up to date on latest developments and practices within the industry.

Statutory:

  • To operate within the relevant regulatory constraints including the Financial Conduct Authority, Senior manager and certification regime, Data Protection Act, Anti Money Laundering and Proceeds of Crime Act
  • Maintaining professional standards of conduct including client and commercial confidentiality, impartiality, and independence.
