Irrigation Maintenance Engineer (Welder)

Prime Irrigation is looking for an Irrigation Engineer to join our Service & Repair team in Suffolk. We install, service and maintain agricultural, sports turf and golf irrigation systems, including pumping plant, and pipe.

Due to the retirement of the previous post-holder, we’re looking for a new team member to join us at Darsham. We’re looking for someone with a practical mind, who has experience working outdoors and has some familiarity using pumping equipment and irrigation systems. For the right candidate, on-the-job training will be provided.

Working hours: Monday to Friday with occasional overnight stays away from home, and very occasional Saturdays/ Sundays (emergencies only). This is a permanent role with a six-month probation period.

Location: This role is a field-based role, throughout East Anglia and occasionally further afield. The company premises are located at Trustans Farm, Westleton Road, Darsham, Saxmundham, Suffolk, IP17 3BP.

Pay: A rate of pay is negotiable dependent upon relevant experience and qualifications.

Duties:

• Outdoor work involving manual handling of irrigation materials
• Work will involve manual labour
• Service, repair and maintenance of pumps, pipework, and valves associated with irrigation systems
• Welding and working with cutting equipment (dependent on experience)
• Communicating with colleagues and customers
• Providing excellent customer service
• Other duties, as reasonably required

Essential skills and experience required:

• A driver’s license is essential
• Ability to work in a physically demanding role
• A practical attitude and willingness to learn
• Attention to detail
• Problem solving/ diagnostic abilities
• Time management and ability to work independently

Desirable skills and experience:

• MIG/ MMA welding
• Using cutting equipment
• Working to drawings
• Experience in irrigation, pump maintenance or plumbing is advantageous
• Working to drawings
• Tractor, digger, roller experience

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
