The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join Eckoh’s TechOps team who maintain responsibility for the 24/7 management and operations of Eckohs secure, highly available, PCI-compliant AWS hosted platform that underpins Eckoh’s mission-critical services.
You will be responsible for the service/security operations, platform reliability, observability, and availability metrics. You will collaborate closely with development teams, SREs & broader operations teams to enable secure, automated delivery of services while championing DevSecOps principles.
This role offers the chance to shape the future of Eckoh’s cloud environments, mentor other engineers, and drive improvement through real business benefit through system performance, scalability, and security.
Key Functional Responsibilities:
· Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to address critical incidents outside of regular business hours
- Operate & administrate production workloads with a focus on high availability, scalability, and resilience.
- Monitor and maintain PCI-compliant cloud infrastructure on AWS ensuring security, availability and performance
- Assist with infrastructure provisioning and configuration management tools by identifying opportunities for automation
· Use observability and monitoring tooling across infrastructure, platforms and services to proactively identify issues.
· Promote and embed a security-first, DevSecOps culture, ensuring best practices are followed at every stage of the software lifecycle.
· Define, measure, and maintain key metrics (availability, MTTR, cost efficiency, performance) to meet and exceed platform KPIs.
- Mentor and guide engineers, sharing knowledge on cloud-native technologies, security practices, best practices and operational excellence.
· Contribute to the evolution of CI/CD pipelines, IaC, and automation tooling to improve delivery speed and reliability.
· Contribute documentation of systems, runbooks and operational procedures
Required skills and qualifications:
· 3+ years in a Platform/Cloud Engineering role focused on platform operations.
· 3+ years of DevOps experience with experience in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
· Hands-on experience with AWS and operations, including services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, RDS, Route53, S3, IAM, and networking.
· Proficient with Linux systems and CLI
· Knowledgeable with containerization (Docker), server images (Packer) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
· Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling (Gitlab experience preferable).
· Proficiency with observability and monitoring solutions (e.g., CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk).
· Understanding of cloud-native practices and agile ways of working.
Desirables:
· Experience designing solutions in multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud environments.
· Knowledge of Kubernetes networking and service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Calico).
· Exposure to Kafka and its ecosystem (Kafka Connect, ksqlDB).
· Expertise in debugging complex distributed systems.
· Familiarity with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
