We are a small and friendly team looking to recruit a Junior Sailing Manager to assist our Sailing Manager, Bosun and Club Secretary. Job Description
Position: Junior Sailing Manager
Reporting to: Sailing Manager
Overview:
The Junior Sailing Manager is responsible for assisting the Sailing Manager and Club Secretary to support the Club programme throughout the year, including club racing, training events, open meetings and administration.
Service is a key focus here, ensuring exceptional service and standards across all areas for our Members and visitors. You will be required to work in compliance with Health & Safety legislation and operate in a safe and seamanlike manner
The working week is normally Thursday to Monday during the sailing season (April - October) and Monday to Friday in the winter (November - March). Working hours normally 0730 to 1700 on race days and 0900 to 1700 on other days.
When necessary, there are flexible/irregular hours for which time off in lieu is given. Leave will not normally be taken during July and August or during major events.
Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Assist in providing support for Club sailing, training and racing events.
- Assist in office administration for both sailing and general administration.
- To help the Bosun maintain Club owned boats in clean and good working order throughout the year, through scheduled winter maintenance and ongoing repairs during the sailing season, including organising external contractors.
- Providing a race day service, to include ensuring all Club owned boats are launched, clean and ready for use; driving Betivuka on race days and providing guidance and assistance to Race Officers if required.
- To assist in the provision of a moorings launch service to Members participating in organised sailing events
- Assist the bosun in keeping the yard, forecourt, staging, pontoons and waterfront area clean and tidy and assist in minor maintenance around the Club.
- Acting as one of the Club’s first aiders (after provided training) when necessary.
Experience and skills:
- Practical experience of driving RIBs and/or small power boats is essential, Being RYA Level 2 Powerboat qualified in desirable but not necessary.
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
- IT literate including use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- An interest in sailing and a knowledge of the Racing Rules of Sailing is preferable!
