About Us:
The Canteen at The Old Hospital is a vibrant community cafe, part of the Old Hospital Hub. We take pride in serving fresh, delicious meals and supporting local initiatives that bring people together. We are seeking a friendly and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our dedicated team and help us maintain our high standards of food preparation and cleanliness.

Role Overview:
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the kitchen team to ensure the smooth operation of our busy cafe. This role involves assisting with food preparation, delivering food service, baking, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, and providing general support to the Head Chef. The role will be a minimum of 2 days per week, with regular opportunities for extra hours. The two working days each week will be Wednesday OR Friday and Saturday OR Sunday.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in food preparation and cooking under the direction of the Head Chef.
• Ensure the kitchen and equipment are kept clean and well-organised.
• Unload deliveries and store ingredients appropriately.
• Help with stock rotation and inventory management.
• Follow health and safety regulations at all times.
• Support the Head Chef and team with any other tasks as required.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a kitchen environment is required.
• Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
• A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn.
• Team player with good communication skills.
• Previous experience with baking is desired.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £12.21-£12.50 per hour
