Full job description
Hot Numbers Coffee Ltd is a vibrant and independent coffee roasting business serving fresh and exciting food at our three busy cafés in Cambridgeshire. Our Roastery, in Shepreth, is also the base for our commercial bakery and pizzeria. We are currently recruiting for the role of Kitchen Porter and back of house assistant at our Roastery Café in Shepreth near Royston.
As a Senior KP and back of house assistant, you will need to work cohesively with staff and be responsible for day-to-day tasks as directed by your Head Chef, Head Baker or Senior Chef to ensure that the Company’s key goals are maintained. These include excellent customer service, cleanliness and tidiness of your workspace and food quality. Your line managers in this role are the Head Chef, Café Manager, Head Baker and Senior Chef.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- To clean all plates, cups, dishes, cutlery as brought to you at the pot wash station.
- To clean bakery equipment and utensils.
- To take charge of your section and make sure the Hot Numbers standards are met regarding organisation and cleanliness.
- To deal with waste disposal and emptying store bins.
- To communicate well with the other staff and respond to their cleaning requests.
- To work and lead a small team.
- To collect items for cleaning from other areas.
- To keep pot wash area clean and organized and ensure the dishwasher is properly shut down at the end of the day.
- Assisting other team members with close at end of shift.
- To complete daily and weekly cleaning schedules to a high standard as directed.
- Working within the team so that the back of house area always maintains an excellent level of cleanliness, organisation, and hygiene.
- To communicate and let your team know when anything is running low (i.e dishwasher salt) to ensure whoever is placing orders knows what you need for your section.
- Follow Health and Safety policies, processes, safe working practices and SSBB standards as shown in the training document.
- Understand and comply with company fire procedures.
- Know who the allocated first aiders are and what to do in an emergency.
Other elements of your job role will include the following:
- Carry out other duties on a regular or ad hoc basis as required or directed to by the Management team.
- Helping prepare food for service such as cutting fruit and vegetables.
- Preparing produce for the preparation of sandwiches and service meals.
- Assisting with stock rotation and putting away deliveries.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: £11.50-£12.10 per hour
