Job Summary
As a Maintenance Operative, working as either a team or on your own, you will be responsible for carrying out reactive and planned maintenance on our cycle parking products, including Bikehangars and other units installed across public spaces. The role involves travelling to different locations to diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and ensure our infrastructure is safe and fully operational.
You will also support relocations of Bikehangars when required, as well as help with stock handling and general operational support. The role is based in the South East, but includes UK-wide travel with overnight stays a few times a month. All travel and accommodation expenses are fully covered.
Main responsibilities
· Work independently or in a small team to carry out maintenance of Cyclehoop products at client sites, including Bikehangars, cycle racks, pumps, repair stations, shelters, and other infrastructure
· Carry out both reactive and pre-planned maintenance, ensuring work is delivered efficiently, safely, and to a high standard
· Review upcoming jobs, assess requirements, and communicate with the Maintenance Manager to ensure readiness and availability of resources
· Prepare and load products, tools, and equipment onto the vehicle at the warehouse in a safe and efficient manner
· Conduct risk assessments on site before starting works to ensure safety for all involved
· Use installation/maintenance instructions, site drawings, and guidance to complete work to spec; raise any issues or missing information with the Maintenance Manager
· Diagnose faults on site and undertake repairs where possible; escalate more complex issues as needed
· Carry out Bikehangar relocations, including safe disassembly, transport, and reinstallation
· Maintain accurate job records and photographic documentation using our mobile reporting system
· Maintain your own tools and report breakages or losses to the Installations and Warehouse Manager
· Be responsible for a company works vehicle, reporting any faults or issues to the Maintenance Manager
· Liaise professionally with clients on site and ensure all maintenance or installation work is completed to the highest quality
· Maintain a valid driving license and any required operational qualifications; relevant training and certifications will be provided and paid for by the company
· Support UK-wide travel and be available for overnight stays a few times per month as required
· Carry out any other reasonable duties as required by the Maintenance Manager or wider operations team, in line with the needs of the business
Required skills
Essential
· Hands-on experience in a maintenance, repair, installation, or similar practical role
· Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
· Full UK driving license
· Comfortable using hand tools and small power tools
· Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weathers
· Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently
· Good communication skills, both written and verbal
· Willingness to travel and stay away from home occasionally
Desirable
· Experience working in public realm or on the highway
· CSCS or other site safety certifications
· Manual handling or first aid training
· Familiarity with cycle infrastructure or urban street furniture
