About Red Whale

Red Whale is a leading UK medical education provider, serving thousands of primary care professionals every year. Red Whale was started in 2007 by two practising GPs, who had a dream of helping themselves and their colleagues by taking CPD from a tick box exercise to a practical tool that could support them in everyday practice. They formed GP Update.

Over 15 years later, we have a new name (Red Whale), more than 50 team members and over 30,000 primary care clinicians learning with us each year. Yet we still have our roots firmly in that dream of helping our colleagues. The desire to be a force for good remains at the heart of our business.

A remote first and flexible organisation since our inception, we continue to hold true to our values to inspire, empower and care through trustworthy, top quality and interactive medical education so that primary care colleagues can deliver their best care possible. We are shamelessly proud of never ever EVER taking pharmaceutical company sponsorship of any kind, not even a biscuit, a pen, or a sticky note! Originally a face-to-face course provider, we now deliver the majority of our learning through our website application www.redwhale.co.uk

Acquired by the Medical Defence Union (MDU) in 2023, we are now on an exciting journey to broaden our impact beyond the primary care market.
