The Reddish Family Practices are looking for a caring, articulate and approachable individual to work as a Medical Receptionist / Administrator in our friendly doctor’s surgery. Based in Reddish, Stockport, working across 2 sites, you will be a key part of the customer service team, supporting patients and doctors in telephone and online triage. Previous experience of primary care is preferred, additional training provided. Immediate start available

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:

Medical Receptionist / Administrator

LOCATION:

The Reddish Family Practices, SK5 6RN, SK5 7QU

HOURS REQUIRED:

37.5 hours per week: Alternate late and early weekly shifts, to include one longer day each Wednesday 8-6.30pm. Split day between reception duties and Administration role.

REPORTS TO:

Reception Supervisor, Admin Supervisor

SUPERVISION OF:

N/A

JOB FUNCTION

To provide a point of contact for patients and to act as a focal point of communication between patients, GPs, other medical staff and external agencies. To represent the vision and ethos of the practice and NHS.

To work as part of a team of receptionists and the wider staff team, ensuring a professional image is presented at all times.

Major Duties and Responsibilities of the Post

· Answer phone calls and manage patients at the reception desk as a priority, ensuring all appointments are triaged accurately and all patient queries are dealt with effectively, to the correct procedure and in a courteous and professional manner.

· Be able to use and understand the practice online triage system called Patch’s and to support GPs in daily triage requests.

· Signpost patients to PCN and external support services in line with Practice guidelines and protocol, as outlined in online tools provided e.g. One Note.

· Manage all administrative tasks and duties in line with Practice procedures and ensure patient records are updated with all communication and activities in a timely manner.

· Support the practice in administrative tasks such as prescriptions, DOCMAN and letters filing, task management, scanning and processing correspondence, inputting patient registrations etc.

· React quickly and effectively to GP and clinical staff requests in relation to patient safety.

· To understand and use correct procedures for reporting complaints or learning events to improve practice service

· Open up premises at the start of the day (if required), making all the necessary preparations to receive patients.

· Secure premises at the end of the day; ensure the building is totally secured, internal lights off, all windows closed/locked, and alarm activated and rooms ready for the next day’s clinics.

Adhere to Health & Safety procedures, taking responsibility for the safety of yourself and others, and rectify/report any safety concerns as they arise.
