Night Support Worker – Children & Young Adults' Residential Homes

Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Location: Cheadle Hulme, SK8 6RQ

Salary: up to £23,810 per annum (+ benefits + weekend enhancements)

We are looking for dedicated Night Support Workers to join our growing team!

Seashell is a charity dedicated to providing a creative, happy, and secure environment for children and young people with complex needs and additional communication challenges from across the UK. We have 17 purpose-built home-from-home, four bedroomed houses for children and young adults who need residential support. We provide 24-hour care, weekly and termly boarding, and 52-week placement for individuals aged 3-25 years.

We have opportunities available in both of our services, supporting our children who are aged between 4-19 years old and our young adults who are aged between 19-25 years old. All our homes are based on our one site in Cheadle.

About the role:

The new Night Support Worker will support our Residential Care team in our Children or Young Adult's homes. You will work with shift leads/seniors and associated staff teams in promoting quality sleep for our children & young adults; and when awake a safe, caring, and purposeful learning environment that will assist them to achieve their fullest potential.

Every day is different at Seashell. Some days are fun, and some days more challenging, requiring extra resilience. However, every shift is rewarding in the role of a Night Support Worker. We’re looking for flexibility, the ability to adapt quickly to change, and most importantly alignment with our values, which are integrity, involvement, and innovation.

The ideal candidate for this role is likely to be an experienced Support Worker looking for a new challenge within a friendly, development-focused team.

Requirements of the role:

  • Ability to support evening and morning routines and any care or support required through the night e.g. medication administration, personal care
  • Typically shifts are 9:45pm – 7:45am
  • Willingness to complete the care certificate and work towards recognised relevant vocational qualification at L3 such as QCF Level 3 Diploma Children’s & Young People’s Workforce, NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care (CCYP) Diploma or equivalent qualification
  • General house keeping experience
  • Challenging behaviours will present in these roles, so to fully support our children, candidates should be comfortable working in this type of environment
  • Experience of working with children/young people with learning disabilities and complex needs.
  • Knowledge of OFSTED / CQC as a regulatory body and the Quality Standards
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, ability to write and maintain reports and children / young people notes.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/staff/other professionals.
