We have an exciting opportunity for a Process Operator to join a great team of people and make a difference within a supportive and values-led Organisation.
Overall Purpose of the Role:
Working on a 4 on 4 off day shift pattern, 6am to 6pm, the Process Operator is responsible for the safety and compliance of operational maintenance of plant equipment by smooth operation of the plant.
The general shift activities include:
To receive and process incoming waste material ensuring that it is compliant with the permitted waste types in order to feed the process accordingly, maximising energy output and cost effectiveness by smooth operation of the plant. The day-to-day activities include;
- Operating oil process machinery consistently to optimise the recipe for the type of waste received and load results
- To safely and effectively tip trailers and tankers of waste
- To manage the cleanliness of the reception, pads and overall site
- To maintain equipment effectively including; greasing, routine maintenance checks. To ensure that reports any equipment defects or lack of resources to the Engineering Manager
Key Areas of Responsibility being:
- Receiving in and processing all types of waste vehicles that includes inspection and testing for M&I and FFA
- Review loads that arrive with a view of acceptance before paperwork is signed and when vehicles are to leave site. (If unsure, ask)
- Contain and clear any spillages on site in an efficient and safe manner when required
- Ensure any vehicles leave the Reception Hall to the required hygiene standard.
- Maintain excellent workplace organisation & good housekeeping
- Ensuring provisions are in place to allow adherence of VET & EA requirements (i.e. footbaths always in operation, no waste is spilt outside the reception hall, not accepting waste where the EWC code does not feature on our permitted list, doors not left open for prolonged periods etc.)
- Completing daily Mechanical Handling Equipment checks on all equipment, checking and logging these as required
- Adhere to the Site Health & Safety policy in all work activities
- Running a steam boiler safely and efficiently
- Steaming IBCs of oils and fats for processing
- Undertake any course of instruction necessary to obtain or maintain the required skill level for this role
- Ensuring that time keeping, and punctuality is maintained at an acceptable level.
- De-boxing and De-packing of waste to recycle as much as possible.
- Assisting fellow Process Operators with daily processes
- To undertake such other activities as may reasonably be required from time to time and which are within the competence of the job holder.

Working times are 4 on 4 off shift pattern, days, 6am to 6pm.

Changing Waste is an industrial processor of waste located in the East Riding of Yorkshire. It is designed to handle a wide range of waste feedstocks. Through a variety of different processes that utilise the waste as a raw material to create a blend for anaerobic digestion, which in turn is used to generate electricity and gas that is 100% renewable and exported to the national grid.
