Volt Loudspeakers is a small but well-established family business with a global reputation. The position available is in our Production Team where loudspeakers are carefully built by hand.

Job Summary

As a Production Assembler, you will be required to assemble component parts that are used in the production of loudspeakers and inductors. You’ll start winding inductors but will eventually learn all aspects of loudspeaker production. You will have a helpful manner and ensure that orders are built to the company’s high-quality standards.

Duties and key responsibilities

  • To use Volt’s two different coil winding machines safely and proficiently.
  • Complete work orders as issued by the Production Supervisor to a high standard and in a timely fashion.
  • To consistently follow work instructions.
  • Develop a strong knowledge of the different inductors that Volt manufactures, jigs, tools, machinery & parts within this area.
  • Have an understanding of customer expectations and therefore the impact of poor quality.
  • Taking a proactive approach to all problems and ensure best practices are met.
  • Advise the Production Supervisor of any stock shortfall or defective goods.
  • To check the quality of relevant new parts when they arrive.
  • To maintain the safety and cleanliness of your working environment.

Personal skills and attributes

You should enjoy working in a factory environment within a small team and will be:

  • a reliable, organised, and flexible team player
  • methodical and consistent in completing all tasks
  • ready to carry out written and verbal instructions
  • have an eye for detail and high standards

Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous but training will be provided if required.

Physical requirements

This role will involve sitting, standing, walking, handling and feeling items, performing tasks requiring fine motor skills, reaching with hands and arms, bending, twisting and lifting, and/or moving items up to 10kg. Occasionally you might be required to lift and/or move items of up to 20kg.

The tasks you carry out will call for reasonable close, distance, colour and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus together with reasonable hearing and the ability to communicate orally.

Work Environment

We comply fully with our obligations under health & safety legislation and take all reasonable steps to ensure a safe working environment for our staff but you should be aware that our production processes will involve varying levels of noise and the use of:-

  • Glues, solvents and adhesives
  • Solder and soldering fumes
  • Moving mechanical parts
  • Hot ovens and solder pots

Contractual hours and benefits

  • Full-time employment – contracted for 36.5 hours per week.
  • Overtime may be offered at busy periods.
  • Auto-enrolment workplace pension.

32 days paid holidays (inclusive of days on which the Company is closed for business)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £12.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36.5 per week
