Relationship Manager (Part-Time)
Salary: £45,000 pro rata
Hours: 20–30 hours per week
Location: Hybrid, Ipswich & London travel
We are a growing and forward-thinking accountancy firm looking to recruit a Relationship Manager (RM) to play a key role in supporting our client service delivery and team development.
This is a senior position within our client services team, sitting above Account Manager level, and is ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical expertise with people leadership and client relationship management.
The Role
As a Relationship Manager, you will act as the senior point of contact for a portfolio of clients, ensuring the highest standards of service, technical accuracy, and communication are consistently delivered.
You will support and guide Account Managers, review work before it is issued to clients, and step in on more complex or sensitive matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the senior contact for clients within your portfolio
- Review and sign off work prepared by colleagues before finalisation
- Support the team with complex technical queries and problem-solving
- Manage any escalations, complaints, and sensitive client situations
- Ensure high standards of accuracy, compliance, and presentation
- Assist in training and developing Account Managers
- Monitor workloads and support effective prioritisation
- Lead on fee reviews and identify opportunities for improving client value and profitability
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone who demonstrates:
- Strong technical knowledge in accounting and tax, with a commitment to continued professional development (AAT or equivalent minimum qualification)
- The ability to explain complex matters in a clear and practical way
- A proactive and confident approach to managing client relationships
- Excellent attention to detail and high standards of work review
- Leadership skills with a passion for supporting and developing others
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively
- Commercial awareness, including understanding of fees, scope, and client profitability

This position is critical to maintaining the firm’s reputation, managing risk, and ensuring consistent, high-quality service across our client base. You will act as a key link between the wider team and senior leadership, helping to develop future talent within the business.
