An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the R&D department in Sand Monitoring Services Ltd. SMS have been part of the Energy Sector for 20 years. We have a strong heritage in sand solutions which we provide to the global energy community through our flexible approach to real-time flow and integrity monitoring. SMS is strategically focused on Discipline & Innovation - delivering operational excellence, internationalisation, and technology development from our base headquarters in Aberdeen, UK and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

We are seeking a Research & Development Project Engineer to join our dynamic and growing technology company. We require a driven and innovative person to contribute towards our energy transition goals through established R&D projects. These projects cover a range of sectors, including Offshore and Renewable as well as Marine Industries. Our strategic objective is to meet our net zero technology goals by 2028.

The role demands a clear knowledge and practical application of engineering fundamentals. The candidate should have experience with technical projects and a desire to contribute to a culture of innovation by proactively generating novel concepts for new products and enhancements to current product performance. The position reports to the Research & Development Manager.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

· Use broad technical skills to provide engineering assistance with the design and development activities of new products. Participate in multi-disciplinary projects executing the development and cross-functional project tasks.

· Development and execution of testing protocols: exploratory testing to define test equipment, test fixtures, and test methods development. Participate in new skill training, test methods validation, and execution of testing as needed.

· Proficiency in writing detailed technical reports based on design verification and testing for product development activities.

· Deploy instrumentation products in an offshore environment.

Key Qualifications & Skills

· Must have a bachelor’s degree in science and engineering (Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Physics, or relevant field).

· Minimum of 2 years of related work experience is required in relevant engineering discipline. R&D exposure would be an advantage.

· Self-motivated, with strong drive and initiative to carry out projects according to plan, and the ability to quickly adapt in a fast-changing environment. Ability to rapidly acquire new skills and to work with new tools and technologies.

· Proficiency in using instrumentation communication protocols, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, PC data acquisition hardware, inspection equipment, signal generators, and power supplies.

· Practical workshop skills are essential.

· Aptitude for lateral thinking and problem solving.

· Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
