Job Summary
As a Senior Hydrologist with 8 or more years of experience, you should already be familiar with the regulatory & policy environment in which our clients operate. We are looking for someone:
- With comprehensive flood risk management and SuDS experience with a proven track record in the delivery of such services
- To lead our team in services ranging from project-specific assessments and designs for flood mitigation and SuDS schemes through to advice on the implementation of National Policies.
- Our projects range across retail, commercial and residential housing developments with us providing a wide range of project experience across the country so you must have the capacity to work and communiate with multiple businesses & people across such sectors at any given time
- You must be willing to support and facilitate business development through inputs into project tenders, including scoping schedules of works and completing preliminary baseline assessments of potential projects
- This role also offers the opportunity to develop into a principal consultant role, so a desire to devlop into this role and earn stake in the business would be preferable
Applicants must demonstrate skills in:
- Providing technical leadership for flood risk and hydrology studies
- Managing both on site activities and in office working
- technical reporting and reviewing colleagues reporting in line with our Internal Quality Assurance process.
- You must also be able to demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively at all levels of a project, whether that be with clients directly, colleagues, or liaison with regulators and other external organisations.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to colleagues that are working in your discipline and management & mentoring of junior colleagues
- Project management, including sticking to internal budget procedures and internal/external deadlines.
Good time management and presentation skills and a flexible attitude are also essential to working within our busy and dynamic team. Chartership or a significant commitment to obtain chartership is essential and having a relevant Masters or PHD would be highly beneficial.
Main Purpose of this role
Management and delivery of Flood Risk Assessment, SuDs schemes, and other Hydrology based projects in order to provide advice to clients using scientific solutions for their environmental problems whilst following the company’s mission, vision & values. In undertaking such work, you will not be afraid to challenge yourself and most importantly the regulators and regulations being applied where necessary as part of the team. The role of a Senior Hydrologist additionally includes managing and supporting our junior team, training then in line with Peak procedures on how to undertake the various aspects of Hydrology based work we do.
Qualifications/Necessary Requirements
- 8+ years of Environmental Consulting Experience
- 4+ years of experience in managing fellow team members
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Chartership/working towards chartership
- First or Upper Second Undergraduate degree
Nice-to-Have
- 8+ years Experience in Hydrology Area
- Msc or Phd
