Worlds Better launched in July 2022 and our core objective is centred around helping the events industry accelerate behaviour change to reduce the negative impact that live events can have, and to support our clients (like UK Sport, HP and Identity Global), to deliver more considered and responsible projects.

About you

Role Requirements

The successful applicant will:

· Be driven by the ability to take ownership of projects and client liaison managing up to the board and across the team. As the business grows Worlds Better requires a senior sustainability consultant who has the experience, confidence and desire to manage and deliver whole projects.

· Have broad knowledge of sustainability/ESG including implementing sustainability strategies within a business, carbon accounting and reporting, developing and delivering sustainability communications (including training) and experience obtaining sustainability certifications for business (minimum 5 years’ experience).

· Demonstrate experience leading, managing and developing a team (minimum 3 staff) and translating stakeholder/client requirements into resource planning and hiring the necessary skills & experience to fulfil (minimum 5 years’ experience).

Role Tasks

Consultancy & project management

  • Lead and manage projects from start to finish, ensuring client deliverables are met.
  • Initiate and lead projects independently with confidence and leadership.
  • Effectively manage your own priorities and workload.
  • Stay informed about the evolving events and sustainability landscape including industry best practices and emerging trends.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive sustainability strategies & initiatives aligned with client business objectives, and ensure strategies drive measurable and impactful results.
  • Identify, document, and mitigate project-related and sustainability risks.
  • Guide clients to achieve sustainability objectives while managing expectations.
  • Create and maintain sustainability processes, procedures, and documentation such as management plans and policies.
  • Perform supply chain engagement, data management and collection, data entry, and data analysis to calculate carbon and waste impact for businesses, and events.
  • Develop carbon emissions reports using data from carbon calculations for company emissions and event projects and understand/comply with sustainability reporting initiatives (including SBTi, SECR, CSRD and PPN).
  • Possess experience with sustainability certifications (e.g. B Corp, ISO 14001, ISO 20121).
  • Develop and deliver sustainability-related training content.
  • Present to diverse audiences, including senior leaders, industry peers and potential clients.
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word for documentation development.

People management

  • Manage, develop and mentor a team of 3 staff
  • Translate client requirements into resource planning and hire the necessary skills & experience to fulfil requirements.
  • Build a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and accountability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Collaborate effectively with global cross-functional teams.

Applicants must be UK based - ideally in South England. We have an office in Brighton with an expectancy to travel here to least once a week to work with the team. International travel and time away from home for potentially weeks at a time may sometimes be required. You are fluent in English.

This is a 6-month fixed term contract with the possibility to extend. Applicants should submit their CV along with a letter introducing themselves to the role and why they would like to be considered.

Salary is £60,000k pa. Benefits include 33 days of annual leave per year, plus bank holidays as well as private health care, training budget, and pension contribution minimum match 3% but will go up to 5%.
