Overview of role
As SEO Manager you will join Target with a minimum of 2 years of search engine optimisation experience - gained in-house, freelance or from another agency.
80% of your time will be focused on researching, writing, implementing and measuring organic search strategies for key eCommerce clients; while the remaining 20% will be department building (e.g. refining processes, building a team and innovating the agency’s SEO, DPR and content service offering with the leadership team).
The role offers the right candidate an outstanding opportunity to work in an ambitious team at an award-winning agency in stunning Cornwall.
We seek to appoint someone with the development potential to grow into our Head of SEO over the coming 18 months, so an appetite for soaking up knowledge and a growth mindset it essential.
Reporting of the role
You will report into the Head of eCommerce Strategy.
Key duties
- Creating detailed SEO audits and turning your findings into clear, measuring strategies for our brand partners.
- Analysing data in Google Search Console, GA, SEM Rush & AhRefs to ensure that strategies are meeting agreed KPIs.
- Communicating your wins/challenges to your line manager and proactively ‘managing up’ with key stakeholders.
- Building an SEO team (we hope that this person will evolve to become the ‘Head of’ department) by hiring, mentoring existing team members and evolving the SEO service offering.
- Managing our brand partner relationships, and becoming the go-to for any and all questions on your partners’ technical, digital PR and content questions.
- Supporting the leadership team with new business pitches and proposals.
Must have
- A thorough understanding of the latest in SEO best practices, Google Core Updates and algorithm changes.
- A good understanding of how technical, on-site, digital PR and content can work together to improve organic performance.
- Examples of how your work has improved a brand’s organic and commercial performance.
- Experience in working with Google Search Console & Google Analytics to extract insights and opportunities.
- An ability to communicate complex SEO concepts and ideas into layman’s terms.
- Strong project management experience with an ability to juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines and be accountable to KPIs.
Good to have
- Good analytical skills with proficiency in Excel/Sheets - VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data analysis etc
- Demonstrable experience in a client-facing role, writing SEO strategy and managing an SEO team
- Experience with managing stakeholders and nurturing relationships - brand partners, colleagues and tech partners.
- Understanding of broader eCommerce principles - customer cohort analysis, CAC & LTV metrics
