At Zoo Events group we specialise in the events industry, providing Glamping set ups to many prestigious events and festivals all over the UK including Secret Garden Party, Boomtown, Wilderness & Lost Village to name a few!

ZooBells are looking for a Site Build Manager to be responsible for overseeing the build and break of our glamping areas, logistics, site services and subcontractors. The Site Build Manager is responsible for the planning and structure of the rig/derig. They lead the crew to build and complete the schedule to deadline. During the live event, the Build Manager will lead the reception and maintenance teams, while dealing with any on-site issues that arise.

Hours: Hours will vary, they may exceed 40 hours a week and will include weekend work. This position is temporary, start and end dates can be discussed with us (from start of May-September).

Salary: Hourly Rate dependent on experience, plus holiday pay. We will also take on self-employed individuals.

Responsibilities and Duties

Site Build Managers are often the most senior Zoo manager on site. On larger builds, a Project Manager will lead the job and be on-site to support the Build Manager. Team Leaders will also be allocated to a job to support Build Managers. At all times the Build Manager is responsible for on-site client and partner communications, health and safety, proper use of company property and crew welfare. Other duties include:

  • Planning the rig and derig schedule (assisted by Project Manager) including managing the loading and unloading of lorries on site
  • Plan and mark out the build area to making the best use of the space and in adherence with client input and/or CAD designs
  • Time management – ensure daily deadlines are being met and the rig schedule revised accordingly, with any concerns regarding achieving deadlines escalated to a senior manager in a timely fashion
  • Communicate regularly with the Zoo office team to ensure the latest sales and customer requests are being accommodated into the rig plan
  • Perform quality control checks in timely fashion and rectify any errors
  • Lead and manage the crew and/or team leaders to ensure good team working relations and achievement of deadlines
  • Ensure all health and safety guidelines are met on site and company property is being handled with care
  • Lead and develop the skillset of team leaders, encouraging them to take ownership of the site, build their confidence and help them progress
  • Complete all necessary paperwork, including but not limited to crew timesheets and site reports

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous building and site experience is required for this role
  • Exceptional time keeping, highly organised and practically minded
  • Problem solving and initiative
  • Ability to take and give instructions, use initiative and communicate well with others whilst always leading by example
  • Good level of fitness - this is a physically demanding role
  • UK driving license and own transport as you will need to make your own way to each of the events which are often in rural locations
  • Good attention to detail and a desire to complete a job to a high standard
  • Desire to work and live outdoors throughout the Summer (sometimes in adverse weather conditions)
  • Event or customer service experience - at many of our events we supply reception and maintenance services

Desirable Skills (not essential but very beneficial):

  • Qualifications or experience in event management or hospitality
  • People management experience
  • Full clean UK driving license and vehicle
  • Forklift license or experience

ZooBells is based in Stockton between Warminster and Salisbury but we travel nationwide and will recruit people nationwide and worldwide (appropriate visas needed).
