Job Description - Support Assistant/Driver

Summary of position

Please note: Antonine Court support Vulnerable individuals therefore all staff should have all COVID Vaccines or be willing to get and continue to keep up to date with. This will be part of your contract. There is a pay increment to benefit this.

Duties and responsibilities

  • The Support Assistant will play a crucial role in providing high-quality support and care to individuals with disabilities, complex needs, and autism at our day centre. As part of a dedicated team, you will assist in delivering personalised care, promoting independence, and enhancing the quality of life for our service users. Your conscientious approach and reliable time-keeping will ensure the smooth operation of daily activities and care routines. Always using a person centred approach.
  • To drive centre transport bus/caddy cars and all driving jobs required.

Key Responsibilities:

Driving centre transport - to do checks on vehicles, to drive picking up service users and taking home, taking on outings and other driving duties along with -

  • Support and Care:
  • Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities, complex needs, and autism.
  • Assist with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, feeding, and mobility.
  • Implement individualised care plans and support strategies.
  • Activity Participation:
  • Encourage and facilitate participation in recreational and therapeutic activities.
  • Adapt activities to meet the needs and abilities of each individual.
  • Promote social interaction and community involvement.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with your team, healthcare professionals, and family members.
  • Communicate effectively within the team to ensure coordinated care.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to care planning discussions.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of care provided and progress made.
  • Report any changes in individuals' conditions or behavior to the relevant team members.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and organisational policies.
  • Professional Development:
  • Engage in ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • Stay informed about best practices in disability support and care.
  • Uphold the values and ethos of the day centre in all professional conduct.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Essential:
  • D1 on drivers licence
  • Compassionate and empathetic nature with a strong commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training and development.
  • Desirable:
  • Previous experience in a similar role or in supporting individuals with disabilities, complex needs, or autism.
  • Relevant qualifications in health and social care.
  • Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and strategies for support.
  • Basic understanding of safeguarding principles.
