Tap & Bottle Shop Operator

Job Overview
Experienced on/off trade team member required to help with expansion of independent wine beer and spirits merchant into second premises in the beautiful Hope Valley region of the Peak District.

This Summer we are opening a new tap/bottle shop in Hope to add to our established retail premises in Castleton. There is an opening for the right candidate with relevant experience who can commit to the necessary shifts which include weekends and evenings cover.

We work with local and independent suppliers to highlight the best of the drinks trade available to us. We also supply wines to a number of on-trade businesses throughout High Peak and beyond.

Our entire range is specialised so we look for team members who are confident selling in a retail environment. The new premises will be a hybrid of retail and on-trade so relevant experience in both fields is ideal.

Duties

• Greet customers warmly and assist them with their inquiries, ensuring a positive shopping/drink-in experience.
• Demonstrate product knowledge and provide recommendations based on customer needs.
• Engage in upselling techniques to enhance sales and promote additional products.
• Maintain an organised and tidy sales floor/tap room, ensuring that merchandise is displayed attractively.
• Process transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system, including handling cash and card payments.
• Manage stock levels and assist with inventory management as required.
• Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations within the store.
• Uphold company policies regarding customer service, returns, and exchanges.

Experience

• Previous experience in drinks retail or on-trade management is preferred, as is specialist/local experience in wine, whisky and/or beer.
• Basic maths skills for processing transactions and managing cash flow.
• A passion for selling and a keen interest in helping customers find the right products for their needs.

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: £12.71-£15.00 per hour
