About Us
Mason Brewing Co is a family owned Microbrewery and Taproom based on Threemilestone Industrial Estate near Truro. Founded in May 2024 by Mike Mason, previously Head Brewer at The Driftwood Spars in St Agnes and Brewhouse and Kitchen in Lichfield, we brew everything from traditional beers to exciting modern pale ales, IPAS, imperial stouts and everything in between.
Our taproom is spacious and inviting with a blend of modern and traditional seating areas. The brewery is on full show in the taproom and we serve at least seven different beers as well as ciders, wines and spirits.
Why we are hiring
Our taproom is open Thursday to Saturday and we host a range of events such as music events, food vendor pop ups, educational talks, comedy events and private parties. We pride ourselves on the relaxed, warm and welcoming atmosphere we have created and we are now at the point where we need to hire our first staff member to help with the extra demand.
We expect this year to be a busy one, and need somebody to help out behind the bar for around 6 hours a week. They will not be fixed hours though it will typically be Friday and/or Saturday evenings to cover our busy periods. Hours will be agreed at least a month in advance though some flexibility would be required in emergencies.
There is also scope to work extra hours in other areas of the business if desired. As we grow we will need help with social media, events, product development and brewing.
What we need from you
We’re looking for somebody with some experience working behind a busy bar, that’s it. Whether that’s 3 months or 10 years - we’re not bothered. We’re more interested in you and your personality - the rest we can teach.
We’re looking for a friendly, positive minded person, somebody who will offer a friendly, warm and welcoming experience for each and every one of our customers.
We’re looking for somebody who also enjoys beer. You don’t have to be a huge beer nerd, just either have the knowledge, or be willing to learn about the ins and outs of beer styles, the ingredients and the process. It’s important to us that our customers feel they can ask questions about products and feel valued and content with our service, even if it takes a little longer to serve them.
Once fully trained and settled in you’ll be required to work alone, open and close the taproom, clean down and perform cellar tasks such as tapping casks, line cleaning and keg/gas changes. As we are a small business there are lots of little tasks that keep us ticking, and you may be asked (within reason!) to help out.
What you’ll get in return
We believe a good work ethic stems from feeling well rewarded for your efforts. We will expect a high standard of work but in return you can expect a fair wage and to be treated with respect and kindness.
Naturally, you’ll get a beer allowance of both draught beer and cans from the brewery as well as free merch.
As our business grows there will be opportunities for you to grow with it. Depending on your circumstances and development plans we can offer more hours (if desired) and external training in Marketing, Events, Bar Management or anything in between.
If this sounds like you please get in touch!
