Salary:   from £12.00 per hour (negotiable depending on experience)
Location:    Long Bennington, Lincolnshire
Contract Type:  Permanent
Contracted Hours:  40 hours per week 
Working Pattern:  Monday to Friday
Holiday entitlement: 20 days plus Bank Holidays

Job Purpose

Complete maintenance and repair of machinery within the Operational area in accordance

with manufacturer and legislative standards and routine maintenance programmes. Adhere to Health & Safety practices in the completion of work and quality checking before machinery is deemed ready for use. Travel as required across the area/region in order to support machinery optimisation and operative safe usage.

Role Responsibilities

  • Carry out repair and maintenance of machinery across the region to maximise operational performance and ensure safety of operatives
  • Maintain records of work carried out, due and overdue (on machinery) in order to adequately plan routine activities and create capacity for reactive work…
  • Provide information to central departments regarding machinery usage, downtime, asset movement and requirement/purchasing of parts
  • Deliver against centrally set targets of machinery/asset utilisation for the region
  • Set routine maintenance programmes for the region
  • Follow Finance and Procurement processes for ordering of parts and on/off hiring
  • Maintain any repair locations within the regions in accordance with management system/specific Health & Safety standards
  • Deliver machinery-specific inductions for Operatives to ensure they are fully competent to operate
  • Carry out regular reviews of machinery operation standards within the region
  • Escalate any safety related Operator issues to Supervisor and Area Managers and support with corrective action (e.g., retraining) if required
  • Escalate machinery/asset misuse matters to Supervisors and Area Managers
  • Provide information regarding risks to the regional budget for machinery/assets e.g., repair costs above budget

About you

  • Significant experience of working within the service repair sector e.g., servicing commercial/ industrial service machinery
  • Demonstrable experience of meeting “first time fix” targets and an appropriate work ethic to support with achieving this
  • Have a good knowledge of agricultural & horticultural machinery - tractors, large and medium ride on mowers, and 2 stroke equipment (essential)


  • Valid driving licence (essential)
  • Possess diesel mechanical experience (essential)
  • Be able to carry out minor welding repairs (TIG) (essential)
  • Familiar with testing agricultural machinery and diagnosing faults
  • Recognise, and report machinery defects and identify impending failure
  • Conduct repairs and services
  • Complete required paperwork accurately and efficiently
  • Mechanical/Electrical maintenance qualification
  • Health & Safety qualification - IOSH working safely or equivalent
  • Skilled in working with grounds maintenance related machinery would be preferable
