4Families Programme – Volunteer Role Description
The 4Families Programme is designed to provide tailored support to families, helping them improve their well-being, reduce isolation, and increase access to essential services within North East Lincolnshire. We are now looking for volunteers who can engage with families in a variety of ways, including home visits, calls, group support, and signposting to appropriate services. This is an opportunity for people to give back to their community and support others in need.
As a volunteer in the 4Families Programme, you will have the chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of families while gaining valuable skills and experiences in peer support and community service.
What will you be doing?
- Providing Support: You will offer active listening and emotional support to families, helping them address their individual challenges in a compassionate and non-judgemental way.
- Engaging Families: Depending on the family's level of need you may provide home visits, phone calls, group support, or virtual check-ins.
- Signposting Services: You will guide families to local organisations and services that can offer further support, based on their unique circumstances.
- Monitoring Progress: As part of your role, you will assist in completing Outcome mapping exercises with families at the beginning and end of their involvement, tracking their progress and the impact of the support they’ve received.
- Follow-Up Support: You will participate in follow-up calls to ensure the family feels supported, track their progress, and make any necessary referrals.
- Referrals: If a family’s needs exceed what volunteer support can provide, you will help facilitate a professional referral to the appropriate services.
What will you gain?
- A Rewarding Experience: Help families improve their well-being and social connections while making a real difference in their lives.
- Full Training: Receive comprehensive training on the 4Families Programme, support techniques, and using tools to track progress outcomes.
- Flexible Volunteering: Choose from various support options, including home visits, online sessions, or group support, allowing you to offer help in a way that fits your availability and interests.
- Travel Reimbursement: Get reimbursed for travel expenses incurred during client support, training, and meetings.
- A Supportive Network: Connect with other volunteers and professionals in a welcoming, collaborative environment.
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for individuals who are:
- Empathetic and Approachable: You enjoy working with families and offering support to those in need, regardless of their background or situation.
- Good Listeners: You are patient, attentive, and able to provide a safe space for families to talk openly about their needs.
- Adaptable: You’re willing to engage with families in a variety of settings, including home visits, phone calls, and group activities, depending on what best meets the family’s needs.
- Committed to the Role: You can commit to at least 2 hours per week and participate in ongoing training and support.
- Open to Reflection: You’re willing to reflect on your own parenting experiences and how they can contribute to your volunteer role.
- Respectful of Confidentiality: You will maintain confidentiality and respect the boundaries of your role as a volunteer.
- DBS Check: You are happy to undergo an enhanced DBS check as part of the volunteer process.
- Willing to Learn: You are open to learning new skills and working as part of a team to support families effectively.
Who Can Volunteer?
We welcome both male and female volunteers who have a genuine desire to support families in North East Lincolnshire. Whether you’re a parent or not, if you’re passionate about helping others and making a difference in your community, we’d love to hear from you
