Job Title: Welsh Quality Officer

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £23,000.00 - £25,000 per annum

Summary of Role: As Welsh Quality Officer, you will be responsible for analysing, tracking and reporting on both Welsh language and quality data across the Educ8 Group. Working with staff, learners and other stakeholders, you will support the Quality Manager so that the Group meet both quality and Welsh Government Welsh language learning targets. You will also assume responsibility for translation services both to curriculum content and for Trainer Coaches, as required.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

  • Analyse group Welsh language and Quality data sets
  • Prepare periodic analytical reports and data presentation material
  • Monitor and review the Educ8 Group Welsh Development Plan, in line with needs and strategic aims of the business
  • Support achievement of and review Welsh Language uptake and achievement targets for all levels of fluency and learning, in line with Welsh Government contractual requirements and specific sector targets
  • Undertake thematic review activities as per Quality Manager requirements
  • Monitor Welsh Language Commissioner requirements and ensure the Group remain proactive and compliant with statutory duties
  • Support the development of Welsh Language provision across the Group in line with the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedaethol Welsh Action Plan (Towards a million Welsh speakers by 2050)
  • Ensure Welsh Language, culture and employability skills are developed at an excellent level, in line with Estyn guidance and recommendations
  • Support the Sales and Marketing team to engage with relevant sector stakeholders, bodies and Welsh medium education school to attract and recruit Welsh Language Learners and Apprenticeship Vacancies
  • Develop and promote opportunities for staff to learn Welsh and monitor impact, especially on Learners and their own learning
  • Provide translation services to the Group including:
  • Curriculum team to develop Welsh Language resources and ensure Welsh Culture is embedded throughout the curriculum
  • Operations team to support learners who choose to learn bi-lingually or through the medium of Welsh
  • Corporate Services and Marketing team to produce bi-lingual documentation and marketing material

  • Be highly organised and able to create and manage a plan
  • Able to apply strict guidelines and processes for staff to follow
  • Ability to analyse data and write reports for a variety of levels within the organisation
  • Able to demonstrate a clear commitment to high standards and the ability to drive continuous improvement
  • Highly professional and motivated with high levels of commitment and confidentiality
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work proactively using own initiative
  • Passionate about education, learning and development
  • Ability to prioritise work and manage competing demands

Essential Criteria

  • Fluent Welsh speaker with excellent communication skills,
  • High levels of literacy in both English and Welsh
  • Good analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Experience of working in the education sector
  • Experience of Welsh/bilingual translation
  • Digitally competent and confident
  • Demonstrable commitment to equality, diversion and inclusion
  • Full driving licence, own vehicle and willing to travel across South Wales
  • Suitable to work with adults at risk, children and young people

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working in Work Based Learning, especially Apprenticeship
  • TAQA Qualification or teaching qualification (PGCE)
  • Full, clean driving licence and use of a vehicle
  • Experience of working in policy / public sector organisations
