Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our small but exceptionally busy team. The successful candidate will provide essential support to our solicitors and clients, assisting with case preparation, legal research, and administrative tasks. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their career within the legal sector, particularly in family law matters. The position is suitable for those who are organised, proactive, and possess strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist solicitors with case management, including preparing legal documents and correspondence.
  • Conduct legal research related to family law cases, including legislation, precedents, and procedural requirements.
  • Organise and maintain case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Draft statements and other legal documents under supervision.
  • Liaise with clients, courts, and external agencies to gather information and schedule appointments.
  • Manage calendars for court dates and deadlines using Microsoft Outlook.
  • Utilise Microsoft Word and Excel to prepare reports, spreadsheets, and documentation efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with confidentiality protocols and data protection regulations.
  • Support the team in administrative duties such as filing, photocopying, and organising meetings.

Experience

  • Previous experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant specialising in Family Law is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of IT systems relevant to legal practice management is desirable.
  • Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
