Junior Marketing & Communications Executive
Job details
Full job description
Are you enthusiastic, organised and curious, and ready to start your career in marketing and communications?
Do you enjoy communicating with people, have an eye for good content and want to learn both traditional and digital marketing?
Would you like to help deliver evidence-led behaviour change social marketing campaigns alongside an experienced team?
The role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and curious Junior Marketing & Communications Executive to join our fast-paced behaviour change agency. This is an entry-level role; no previous professional marketing experience is required.
Working closely with the Engagement & Communications Team, you will help deliver marketing campaigns and client projects day to day, from creating social media and website content to keeping trackers up to date, preparing reports and helping at events.
You will see how campaigns come together from brief to launch, working alongside insight, design, digital and service specialists. You will work on evidence-led behaviour change social marketing campaigns and learn both traditional and digital marketing.
Project management is a core responsibility across all ICE teams. From early on, you will use Synergist to help manage projects, record time and support effective delivery. Everyone in the team has a billing target, and you will receive support to build the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to understand and work towards yours.
You will be part of the Engagement & Communications Team, based at the Wirral Office, with hybrid working across home and client environments. You will report to the Senior Marketing & Communications Executive. The role includes occasional travel to client sites and events.
Hours of work: Monday – Thursday 8:30am – 5pm; Friday 8:30am – 3:45pm / 37.5 hours.
Salary range: £26,227.50 – £28,000 per annum.
Why join ICE
Work on evidence-led behaviour change social marketing campaigns and client projects.
Learn how campaigns come together, from the first brief through to launch and evaluation.
Work alongside colleagues across engagement, communications, insight, design, digital and specialist services.
Build your skills through training, regular check-ins and shadowing colleagues.
Work in a hybrid model, combining office, home and client environments.
As your skills and confidence grow, take on more responsibility with a clear path towards a Marketing & Communications Executive role.
Key elements of the day-to-day role:
The role will involve:
- Support the wider team to deliver campaigns and client projects, from the first brief through to launch and evaluation.
· Help turn briefs into plans by gathering information, drafting timelines and keeping track of deliverables and deadlines.
- Keep the marketing calendar, project trackers and shared folders up to date so the team always knows where things stand.
· Take notes and actions in team and client meetings, and follow up on agreed tasks.
- Flag any issues, questions or risks early to the Senior Marketing & Communications Executive.
· Write and prepare content for social media, websites, blogs and email newsletters, following brand guidelines and tone of voice.
- Create simple graphics, social posts and short videos using tools such as Canva, and prepare assets for the design team.
· Proofread and check campaign materials for accuracy, spelling and consistency before they go for sign-off.
- Help gather case studies, photos, quotes and success stories from projects to use in content.
· Schedule, publish and monitor social media posts across ICE and client channels.
- Respond to comments and messages in line with agreed guidance, escalating anything sensitive.
· Upload and update website content using WordPress or other content management systems.
- Build and send email newsletters using Mailchimp or similar platforms.
- Learn the basics of SEO, paid social and search advertising, and support live campaigns as your knowledge grows.
· Build positive working relationships with colleagues across design, digital and specialist services.
· Join client meetings and calls, and, with support, take on some day-to-day client communication.
· Help organise and attend events, roadshows and community engagement activity, including some activity outside the office.
· Liaise with suppliers and freelancers to request information, quotes and materials.
· Help track campaign spend, supplier quotes and purchase orders, in line with the Company’s financial regulations.
· Keep accurate records of campaign activity, approvals and assets.
· Provide general administrative support to the Engagement & Communications Team.
· Pull together campaign data from tools such as Google Analytics and Meta Business Suite, and help prepare performance reports.
· Carry out desk research into audiences, competitors and marketing trends to support campaign planning.
· Learn about behaviour change and social marketing principles and how ICE uses them to design campaigns.
· Take an active part in your own development, including training, regular check-ins and shadowing colleagues.
· Share ideas, feedback and things you have learned with the team.
· Act at all times within the Company’s rules, policies, procedures and financial regulations.
· Observe and comply with employees’ obligations under Health and Safety policy and law.
· Support a progressive approach to Equal Opportunities, ensuring the Company’s commitment to equality of opportunity in service provision and employment practices is present in all work.
· Comply with all information governance policies and procedures at all times.
· Maintain the highest standards of personal and professional integrity and conduct.

- Enthusiastic, curious and keen to learn and grow in a marketing and communications career.
- A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to get involved in a wide range of tasks.
- Creative, with ideas you are happy to share.
- Comfortable with a hybrid working model (a mix of office and home-based) and occasional travel to client sites and events.
Your development
You will receive training, regular check-ins and opportunities to shadow colleagues. As your skills and confidence grow, you will take on more responsibility, with a clear path towards a Marketing & Communications Executive role and opportunities to grow as the organisation does.
